A seventeen-year-old has been charged in connection with two burglaries in Rome. Police say that Joseph Lee Mize was arrested earlier this week in connection with the burglary of a business on Martha Berry Highway. He has since been arrested and charged with a second burglary and was additionally charged with theft by taking, criminal trespass and possession of a handgun by a person under the age of 18. Police say that Mize and two others were confronted by the owner of the business, who was armed, and the thieves fled before police arrived. Mize is accused of stealing a 40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun in September of last year.
