A Floyd County Jail officer had to be taken to Floyd Medical Center Saturday night after police say his leg was injured when an inmate attacked him.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Corun Jason Sellars, 23, of 123 Lindsey Road, Lot 4, Rome was in the jail on a hold for court, when he became violent with officers.

Police say Sellars spat and screamed at officers, punching one in the mouth.

One officer received a leg injury and had to be taken to Floyd Medical for treatment. The report did not say the se-verity of the injuries.

Sellars is charged with felony obstructing a police officer and simple battery.

But this is not Sellars first jailhouse scuffle.

According to a previous Rome News-Tribune article, Sellars was charged with felony terroristic threats and acts in September when he got into a verbal altercation with police at the jail.

Sellars then had refused to obey commands and was escorted to lock down.

He continued to try to verbally intimidate the officers, and told them, “You may not make it home tonight anyways,” reports stated.
