Floyd Medical Center is now being investigated by the Georgia Department of Health for violating protocol and giving vaccine’s to those that are not approved.
The investigation comes following the same type of situation with the Medical Center of Elberton, which is now under a six month suspension of a new supply of COVID-19 vaccine. The state also seized the remaining “dose one” supply of the vaccine. Elberton vaccinated numerous county school system employees, including teachers, who was not part of the first group “1A” to be vaccinated
According to reports, Floyd Medical Center has been vaccinating family members of employees who were not part of the “1A” group.
Several family members of Floyd Medical Center that did not fall within the state guidelines for eligibility posted on their social media that they were vaccinated, prompting the investigation.
According to WSB, Floyd Medical Center CEO, Kurt Stuenkel , the hospital estimated inoculating 766 non-employees who did not fall under the state guidelines. He added that the hospital had extra doses.
“I made that decision that in order to have staff available that it would be a good idea to also make it available to those living in the household,” explained hospital CEO Kurt Stuenkel.
