Ten volunteers have completed training and have been named Breast Health Advocates for The Breast Center at Floyd Medical Center.

These dynamic and passionate women will help carry the breast health message throughout Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama with the goal of reducing the breast cancer mortality rate for women in the area.

Selected for their passion, enthusiasm and commitment to breast health, many of the advocates have a personal connection or experience with breast cancer. The advocates are Konda Dizon, Debbie Freeman, Jane Harris, Jan Hughes, Barbara Naymick, Kellie Scalla, Vickie Slaughter, Lisa Stuenkel, Paula Wachsteter and Emily Wooten.

Each advocate has completed orientation and three eight-hour training sessions focused on breast anatomy and physiology, breast imaging, biopsy and surgical techniques. The advocates, in collaboration with The Breast Center at Floyd, serve as community leaders in breast health education, support and outreach. They build relationships with local civic and women’s groups and seek opportunities to support and encourage women in the community to participate in appropriate breast health activities and screenings.

Other Breast Health Advocates include: Vickie Cline, Susan Dupree, Glenda Fincher, Patricia Kidd, Amanda Kinder, Jennifer Kligora, Lesley Land, Kim Maxwell, Kelly McKelvey, Chrystial Prater, Dianne Simpson, Julie Stancil, Cathy Strickland, Paige Swiger, Lynn Todino and Patsy Wade.
