Floyd Urgent Care in Summerville is extending its hours to include Sundays beginning Jan. 9, 2011. Located at Chattooga Medical Center, 11766 U.S. Highway 27 in Chattooga County, Floyd Urgent Care provides medical care for minor illnesses, accidents and work-related injuries that require prompt attention, but are not life-threatening. The facility is open extended hours, and no appointment is necessary. Primary care specialists Matthew Cornforth, M.D., and Joel Jager, M.D., and their staff provide the medical expertise at the Summerville facility, which is equipped with lab, x-ray and digital mammography capabilities. “We were encouraged to do this by Commissioner Jason Winters, who pointed out that residents have no local alternative when they need medical care on Sundays,” said Kurt Stuenkel, Floyd president and CEO. “We are happy that our physicians are partnering with us to provide this service to the residents of Chattooga County. We value our ongoing relationships in Chattooga County, and we are appreciative of the Commissioner for being sensitive to the health care needs of his residents.“ Floyd Urgent Care in Summerville currently is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. Beginning Jan. 9, 2011, Floyd Urgent Care in Summerville will also be open Sundays from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The staff can be reached by phone at 706.625.4410.
