Starting this Sunday, Floyd Urgent Care located next to Truck Town on Highway 27 in Summerville, will offer extended weekend hours by opening on Sunday.  The announcement came last month when Floyd Medical Center CEO Kurt Stuenkel said that Floyd was encouraged to expand hours by Chattooga County Commissioner Winters.  Stuenkel said that Commissioner Winters pointed out the Chattooga County residents have no alternatives when they need medical care after hours on the weekend and that means many times residents wind up at the emergency room when they need medical care on Sundays. 

Located at Chattooga Medical Center, 11766 U.S. Highway 27 in Chattooga County, Floyd Urgent Care provides medical care for minor illnesses, accidents and work-related injuries that require prompt attention, but are not life-threatening.

The facility is open extended hours, and no appointment is necessary. Primary care specialists Matthew Cornforth, M.D., and Joel Jager, M.D. and their staff provide the medical expertise at the Summerville facility

Floyd Urgent Care in Summerville currently is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. and beginning Jan. 9, 2011, Floyd Urgent Care in Summerville will also be open Sundays from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.  

Floyd also operates Urgent Care centers in Calhoun, Cartersville, Cedartown, Rockmart and Rome.
