Weather forecasters are keeping an eye on the next winter weather system scheduled to make its way into the Northwest Georgia area late on Sunday and into Monday.

Some forecasters are saying that this system is a bit different from the “clipper systems” we have been seeing so far this winter and that we have the possibility for significant winter weather as we start the work week on Monday.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia says that confidence is increasing that this weather system could combine some arctic air and Gulf moisture; a scenario that often means significant winter weather for our area.

Right now, forecasters are uncertain if the system will produce freezing rain, sleet or snow – and of course there is still uncertainty as to how much moisture will develop.
