Michael Kilgore, a former Centre Patrol Officer, has been sentenced to four years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised probation, officials confirmed. The sentencing comes after his arrest on May 3, 2023, by the Centre Alabama Police Department on charges of Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Controlled Substance Crime.

At the time of his arrest, Kilgore was employed as a Centre Patrol Officer. Allegations surfaced that he was engaged in the unlawful handling and planting of evidence on unsuspecting motorists, with the intent of fabricating drug arrests.

Chief Investigator Randy Mayorga, in a statement, revealed that the investigation into Kilgore’s alleged misconduct was initiated immediately after the allegations were received. The investigation reportedly uncovered evidence that corroborated these claims. As a result, arrest warrants were secured for criminal conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime, specifically distribution.

The Centre Police Chief, Blankenship, expressed deep disappointment with Kilgore’s alleged actions. “We are very disappointed in Kilgore’s conduct,” Chief Blankenship stated. “There is no excuse for any officer violating the law like this.”

Following the investigation and subsequent arrest, Kilgore was terminated from his employment with the City of Centre.
