Former Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Kathy VanPelt Brown will be laid to rest tomorrow after passing away at her home in Tennessee over the weekend.

Ms. Brown served as Chattooga County Tax Commissioner until 2016.  She had worked in the tax office for many years; starting at the age of 13 working for her father who served as tax commissioner.

After leaving office, Ms. Brown had moved to Tennessee where she worked in the tourism industry.

She is survived by her son Greg Brown of Sheridan, Wyoming.

A private funeral service will be held with arrangements by Earl Rainwater Funeral Home in Summerville.
