A former correctional officer with the Floyd County Prison was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Wednesday morning on theft charges after he allegedly failed to turn in his equipment after he was fired, according to Floyd County Jail reports and Warden Jeff Chandler.

According to the reports and Chandler:

James Allen Bailey, 5 E. Second St., Aragon, was fired last week for departmental policy violations but did not turn in his uniforms, badge, radio and identification to prison officials after repeated requests to do so.

The items are valued at more than $800.

Bailey was charged with theft by conversion and was released on bond Wednesday afternoon
