A Fort Payne man was arrested last week after complaints came in to the Fort Payne Police Department that someone was impersonating a Federal Officer.

A complainant told officers that a black male had stopped them at red-light . The man had a gun in his hand and was wearing a tactical vest when he approached the victim sitting in his vehicle an engaged in conversation with him while pointing the gun at the victim’s head.

An investigation by the FBI, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Payne Police identified a suspect who was taken into custody.

Richard Brian Tra’Bael, age 50 of Fort Payne, formerly of Georgia, was arrested and charged with Impersonating a Peace Officer, Possession of Forged Instruments 2nd Degree, and Aggravated Assault/Menacing.  Bond was set at $30,000.
