Another name has been added to the list of registered Sex Offenders currently residing in Cherokee County, Alabama – and this one belongs to a former school teacher in that county.

37 year old Leah Brown Garmany, who currently resides at 885 County Road 572 in Centre, entered a guilty plea, to a charge of Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, in Cherokee County Circuit Court before Judge Jeremy Taylor on September 23rd. As part of the plea agreement count one of the indictment – Electronic Solicitation of a Child – was dismissed.

On the Sexual Abuse Second Degree charge the judge imposed a 12 month sentence – which was suspended for 24 months; if Garmany fails to abide by the guidelines put forth, she will then have to return to jail and will serve a full year.  Additionally, Garmany was required to register within sixty days pursuant to the Sex Offender Registration & Notification Act.

Garmany resigned her tenured position as a teacher at Centre Elementary School, following her arrest in February of this year (2015).
