Dekalb County authorities have arrested four people in connection with a drug bust occurring last Thursday (February 10th) in Rainsville.

At approximately 9:30 that night Drug Task Force Agents and Sheriff`s Office Deputies went to a location on County Road 180 where they informed the homeowner, April Dawn Herren, that they had received a complaint regarding possible drug activity at the residence.

After being given permission to search the home officers found over 5 grams of methamphetamine, assorted drug paraphernalia, and cold medicine.

Also present during the search, were 31 year old Christine Jane McWhorter of Rainsville; 44 year old Dennis Labron Chapman of Dutton; and 29 year old Charles Travis Carlton of Section – along with Herren’s three children, ages 8, 9 and 13.

Herren, Chapman and Carlton, were charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, while McWhorter was charged with the Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance.

All four were transported to the Dekalb County Detention Center.

Herren and McWhorter were each released on February 14th – on bonds of $9,000 and $30,000, respectively.

Carlton was released for a Probation Revocation proceeding in Jackson County.

Chapman remains in jail at this time with a Hold pending from the Dekalb County Probation Office.

Officers contacted DHR, who responded and placed Herren’s children into a `Safety Plan` pending further investigation
