Chattooga County deputies are patrolling county roadways alongside the Georgia State Patrol in an effort to catch impaired drivers.  There have been at least two DUI arrests in the county since the beginning of the July 4th Holiday travel period.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday morning, Malik Edward Martin was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain a single lane.  Then, shortly after midnight on Independence Day, Richard Dwight Bass was charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, speeding and possession of methamphetamine.

Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputies, the Georgia State Patrol along with Summerville and Trion Police will be actively looking for impaired drivers this weekend.
