A special night of Christmas music is planned for tonight at 7 p.m. at the Summerville Seventh-day Adventist Church, as acclaimed violinist Jaime brings his “Silent Night, Holy Night Violin Concert” to Chattooga County.

Born in Cuba in 1970, Jaime began violin studies at just five years old. After immigrating to the United States at age 10, he continued his musical training under noted violinist Cyrus Forough, a student of legendary virtuoso David Oistrakh.

His path wasn’t always aimed toward the stage. Jaime once dreamed of becoming a missionary doctor and began taking pre-med courses when he entered college in 1988. In 1992, he was accepted into the University of Illinois Medical School, but during his second year he said he felt called to leave medicine and dedicate his life to music ministry.

The church invites the community to “enjoy an evening of seasonal hymns” during the concert, which will be held at 1759 Highway 114 (Lyerly Highway) in Summerville. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.
