The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia has issued a Freeze Watch for most of North Georgia, including Chattooga and surrounding counties.  The Freeze Watch is in effect from late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with the possibility of temperatures getting down into the 20’s by midweek.

Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

You should take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.  To prevent freezing and the possible bursting of outdoor water pipes, they should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly.  Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper-20’s in Northwest Georgia Tuesday and Wednesday night and in the low 30’s on Friday morning.
