Both local high schools were at home for Friday night football last night with the Chattooga Indians hosting Pepperell and the Trion Bulldogs hosting Mt. Zion.  It was a good win for the Bulldogs and, despite an early lead, a disappointing loss for the Chattooga Indians.

It was Senior Night for both high schools, and at the Little Big Horn, the Chattooga Indians retired the #32 jersey worn by Chattooga High School graduate and NFL pro Senorise Perry.

In the first quarter with only five minutes to go, Chattooga’s Carter Lowenberg has a sack against Pepperell on their own 40-yard line. With four minutes to go in the first quarter, the Indians scored the first points of the game when Devon Heroch made a 50-yard rushing touchdown; with the extra point, Chattooga was in the lead 7-0.  The Indians ended the first quarter with a 5-yard rushing touchdown by Jayden Freeman, and with the PAT were in the lead 14-0.

Unfortunately, it was all downhill after the first quarter for the Indians. At the half, Pepperell was leading 21-14.  The Indians never recovered in the second half of the game as the Dragons continued to rack up points, and the Indians were unable to score again.  The game final score was Pepperell 35 to Chattooga’s 14.

The news was much better from Sam R. McCain Stadium in Trion as the Bulldogs rolled past Mt. Zion.  The Bulldog’s Rob Brown broke Trion’s single game rushing record with 441 yards and 7 touchdowns on the night. In addition, Rob also broke the single season rushing record as well with approximately 1700 total yards and counting.

The Bulldogs will be on the road next Friday evening to take on arch-rival Gordon Lee.
