The volunteers of the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park organization represent an incredible dedication to our local state park, contributing thousands upon thousands of hours of service over the past five years. At a recent meeting, the group took time to calculate and recognize some of their most outstanding members for their tireless efforts. While there are far too many selfless individuals to name, a few truly stand out for their exceptional contributions.

Ann Crimm, affectionately dubbed the “Top Cleaner,” has put in over 900 hours of work, often seen pressure-washing the park’s picnic tables and stepping in to clean cabins and do laundry whenever needed. Her commitment to keeping the grounds spotless is unparalleled and deeply appreciated by all who enjoy the natural beauty of Sloppy Floyd. Meanwhile, Lee Stamps, the “Top Sponsor Executive,” has dedicated over 600 hours to the vital behind-the-scenes work of reaching out to local businesses to secure funding for events like the popular Twisted Ankle Race. This crucial role ensures the park can host engaging community activities year-round.

The dynamic duo of Randy Smith and Richard Greeson, known as the “Top Trail Cleaners,” have collectively contributed over 1,600 hours to meticulously maintaining the park’s hiking paths, ensuring visitors can safely and comfortably explore the great outdoors. Similarly, Bruce Crimm and Randy Smith, the “Best Groundskeepers,” have dedicated nearly 2,000 hours to the tireless tasks of mowing, trimming, and clearing away overgrowth, keeping the grounds pristine.

At the top of the volunteer leaderboard are Bruce Crimm, Mary Parker, and Martha Stamps, who have amassed an astounding 3,000 hours of collective service. These three individuals exemplify the strong leadership and unwavering commitment that propels the Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park forward, inspiring others with their passion and dedication.
