A Chattooga County resident that lost two sons in a tragic accident Friday in Murray County is an employee of the Gordon County Fire Department.  Marshall Greene’s wife was also severely injured in the accident in which her car collided with a tractor-trailer at an intersection.  The Gordon County Government released this information Saturday:

To the citizens of Gordon County on behalf of the Fire-Rescue Department – As most of you know by now, the family of one of our firefighting brothers was involved in a horrible auto accident on Friday, January 4, where his two sons perished and his wife was critically injured. If there is any good news in all of this, it is that his wife has undergone surgery and is currently stable and is beginning recovery at Erlanger.

We continue to support our brother’s needs in every way possible; however, many have called, emailed, etc., asking how you can help. A memorial fund has been set up to help the Greene family. The fund has been set up at NorthSide Bank in Calhoun (corner of Hwy 53E and Lovers Lane Rd, across from Longhorn’s). If you would like to help the Greene family, donations can be made at NorthSide Bank to the Zach & Mason Greene Memorial Fund, c/o Marshall Greene. If you have any questions, you may contact Lt. Bo Nicholson (706-263-1601), Battalion Chief Heath Derryberry (678-918-6242) or Sandy Padgett (706-629-8851).

We thank each of you who have called, emailed, or expressed in person your desire to help! Continue to pray for a smooth, quick physical recovery both physically and spiritually for this family, as well as our fire department family!
