Former Sheriff Ralph Kellett of Summerville passed away on Tuesday at his home.  Mr. Kellett had been battling cancer for some time and passed away peacefuly at his home according to family members. 

Ralph Kellett was Sheriff of Chattooga County for 17 years, finishing the unexpired term of former Sheriff Gary McConnell, when McConnell was appointed by Governor Zell Miller to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency,  and going on the be elected to three more full terms in office. 

Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters has ordered the flags at the Chattooga County Courthouse to remain at half-staff until Friday in honor of former Sheriff Ralph Kellett.
