Hundreds gathered Monday night for a `Candle Light Vigil` held for 25 year old Jessica Sharp of Cedar Bluff, who was killed over the weekend.

Sharp was the proprieter of the Headquarters Salon on Highway 68 and a huge crowd gathered in the parking lot of the business to pay tribute to their lost loved one.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder after Sharp`s body was discovered beside her vehicle in the parking lot of Cornwall Furnace Park in Cedar Bluff at about 4:00pm Saturday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Cherokee County Coroner Broderick Smith.

Authorities were notified a short time later that the suspect who was identified as 39 year old Michael Joseph Snider of a Gaylesville address, had placed a call to police dispatch.

Cedar Bluff Police Department Sergeant/Investigator JP Curry, said that Snider indicated that he was in a wooded area, stating that he had a self-inflicted knife wound, and that he also related information about his involvement in the death of Sharp.

Emergency personnel and law enforcement immediately responded – finding Snider in the designated wooded area approximately three miles away from the crime scene.

Firefighters did establish a landing-zone and a helicopter was landed at Cedar Bluff School, however Snider was instead rushed to Cherokee Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Funeral services for Jessica Sharp will be held Wednesday (February 23rd) at 1:00pm – at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Unity Cemetery.
