According to a report released by the Summerville Police Department this week, a Gadsden, Alabama man was recently arrested and charged with DUI, but was released from the Chattooga County Jail due to his medical condition.
Summerville Police stopped fifty-three-year-old Ronny Allan Johnson on Orchard Road after they noticed the pickup truck he was driving was failing to maintain a single lane. Johnson reportedly had a half-empty bottle of alcohol in the truck and officers could smell alcohol on his breath. After failing a breath test, Johnson consented to having a blood test done and failed that test as well.
Johnson was taken to the Chattooga County Jail, but due to a high blood pressure issue that needed immediate attention, he was released with a citation and promised to appear in Chattooga County court to face the DUI charges.
