Summerville City Manager Janice Galloway says that the mayor and city council did not give her much of a choice, and forced her into retirement by refusing to offer her an annual contract. WZQZ News reported earlier this week that Galloway had retired. Galloway said that she was somewhat blindsided when the council didn’t offer to renew her contract. WZQZ News spoke with two city council members this week who said that the city will now begin the search for a interim city manager and will then begin the search for a permanent person to replace Galloway. Galloway, a longtime city employee, has served as city manager since 2018.
