According to AAA, Georgia’s average gas price has dipped this week, providing much-needed relief to drivers. As of Monday, the average cost of regular unleaded gasoline in Georgia stands at $2.92 per gallon, a decrease of 1 cent from the previous week, 5 cents from a month ago, and 6 cents compared to this time last year.

This reduction translates to an average cost of $43.80 to fill a standard 15-gallon tank, offering a notable savings of 75 cents compared to just a month prior. “Georgians can breathe a sigh of relief as their pump prices stand at 21 cents less than the country’s average, offering a welcome respite to wallets,” stated Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group. The decline in gas prices is attributed to several factors, including lower crude oil prices, a seasonal dip in gasoline demand, and the transition to a more economical winter fuel blend. As a result, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has also seen a decrease, dropping by 4 cents since last Monday to settle at $3.13 (subject to change overnight).

Within Georgia’s metro markets, Atlanta mirrors the state average at $2.92 per gallon. However, some regions are experiencing higher prices, with Hinesville-Fort Stewart leading the way at $3.04 per gallon, followed closely by Brunswick at $2.98 and Valdosta at $2.97. In contrast, the least expensive markets include Warner Robins at $2.86, Gainesville at $2.85, and the Catoosa-Dade-Walker area at $2.79.

In our area, gas is averaging $2.80 per gallon in Chattooga County, $2.88 in Floyd County, and $2.90 in Gordon County. Meanwhile, across the state line in Alabama, gas prices are slightly lower, averaging $2.71 in DeKalb County and $2.76 in Cherokee County.
