Georgia’s average gas price has slightly dropped to $2.94 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. This price is 1 cent lower than last week, 4 cents higher than a month ago, and 37 cents lower than a year ago.
Filling a 15-gallon tank now costs Georgians about $44.10, which is nearly $6.00 less than last year. Montrae Waiters from AAA-The Auto Club Group noted that gas prices have decreased despite recent U. S. airstrikes in the Middle East, though drivers should brace for possible increases as the 4th of July travel week approaches.
Nationally, the average gas price decreased by 3 cents to $3.18 per gallon. Oil prices have returned to pre-conflict levels, but with about 61.6 million travelers expected for Independence Day, gas prices may rise slightly. Recent data shows gasoline demand climbed from 9.29 million barrels per day to 9.68 million barrels per day, while gasoline supply dropped from 230 million barrels to 227.9 million barrels. Gasoline production remains steady at an average of 10.1 million barrels per day. Additionally, WTI crude oil closed at $64.92 per barrel, with U. S. crude oil inventories down by 5.8 million barrels from the previous week, sitting 11% below the five-year average.
