The price of oil hovered below $96 a barrel Monday, weighed by data released late last week, which showed that U.S. industrial production weakened and Europe remained mired in recession.

That leaves gas prices at almost $4 a gallon in Chattooga County and surrounding areas. 

If you're shopping around for gas in the area, expect to pay $3.80 a gallon at Murphy Oil in Trion and  and $3.85 at the BP on Mountain View road, in the Trion area.

In Summerville, prices are about the same. with gas gas Tuesday afternoon averaging #3.71 at the gas stations in Gore. 

If you have a reason to go to Lafayette, you may save about 10-15 cent a gallon.

As of Tuesday afternoon, gas prices were hovering in the $3.70 area in Rome.
