The GBI is currently investigating an officer that was involved in the "shots fired" case that took place Monday afternoon in Ft Oglethorpe.

According to reports the situation started as simply a shoplifting call with a vehicle description in regard to an incident occurring at the Walmart on Battlefield Parkway.

A vehicle matching the description was soon pulled over and one suspect immediately bailed out and fled on foot, meanwhile, the other person in the vehicle, reportedly attempted to drive away – heading toward a police officer.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation report states that an officer fired one round, and, that no one was hurt.

A short time later three suspects were taken into custody: two close to the Office Deport and one near the Battlefield Apartments.

The GBI will turn its findings over to the district attorney's office following that investigation; no additional information is being released at this time.
