The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has announced the promotion of Daniel Nicholson to Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force. Nicholson, a twenty-five-year veteran of law enforcement, will assume a critical leadership role in coordinating and overseeing drug enforcement operations across the region.

The promotion recognizes Nicholson’s extensive background, which spans both state and local law enforcement agencies, providing him with a broad perspective crucial for directing complex task force operations.

GBI Director Chris Hosey congratulated Nicholson, emphasizing the value of his diversified career history.

“With more than 25 years of law enforcement experience, Daniel Nicholson brings a wealth of knowledge and perspective to this leadership role,” said Director Hosey. “His experience working in both local and state law enforcement will give him valuable insight as he takes on the role of Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force.”

As ASAC, Nicholson will be responsible for guiding investigators, coordinating efforts with partner agencies, and ensuring the efficient execution of the task force’s mission to suppress illegal drug activity in Northwest Georgia communities.

Division Director of Investigations Cynthia Adkins expressed strong support for the appointment, highlighting Nicholson’s proven track record within the GBI’s investigative division.

“Daniel Nicholson exemplifies the teamwork, dedication, and professionalism that the GBI’s Investigative Division is built upon,” said Director Adkins. “Daniel brings years of investigative experience and a proven ability to lead. I have full confidence in his ability to guide and support the agents under his supervision.”

Nicholson’s leadership is expected to strengthen the Task Force’s capabilities at a time when drug enforcement remains a top priority for public safety officials across the state. His promotion is effective immediately.

The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force operates in conjunction with local sheriff’s offices and police departments throughout the region, focusing on narcotics distribution networks and related violent crime.
