The seminar is designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors, and entrepreneurs. Cherry Rizer, an employment and training consultant with the Georgia Department of Labor, will present a mini-seminar entitled, Unemployment Insurance, the Process Explained from A to Z.
The UI process from the filing of the claim to the appeals process will be explained by Ms. Rizer, including employer taxes, and what employers need to do to protect their rights. Among frequently-asked questions at UI seminars are: What happens when a claim is filed, what claims examiners look for when employees quit or are discharged, how the appeals process works, and how employer tax rates are set.
The seminar is free but there is a $10 charge for lunch. Employers who attend will receive a free UI handbook.
Employer committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain working relationships between employers and GDOL career centers. The North Georgia Employer Committee works with the Blue Ridge Career Center.
