The bill has passed, along party lines, in the Georgia Senate.

The bill would prohibit social media platforms with more than 20 million users from limiting content or discriminating against users.

The constitutionality of prohibiting private companies from controlling content on their platforms is something that would have to be considered by the courts should the bill pass and be signed into law.

Both former President Donald Trump and Northwest Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene have had social media companies suspend their accounts based on content that they posted.

A federal judge blocked a similar bill Florida lawmakers passed earlier this year after lawyers for Big Tech companies argued it violated their free-speech rights under the First Amendment.
