The Georgia Department of Transportation is proposing a significant amendment to the Fiscal Year 2025 portion of the state’s Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for the years 2024 through 2027.

The STIP serves as Georgia’s comprehensive four-year plan for investing in critical transportation infrastructure and capital improvement projects across the state, outside of the boundaries of the state’s Metropolitan Transportation Organizations. This proposed amendment is being put forth in order to ensure continued fiscal constraint and responsibility in the STIP’s FY 2025 funding plan, as well as to reflect any project phase changes that have occurred since the current STIP was jointly approved by the Federal Highway Administration and Federal Transit Administration just last year.

In addition to seeking valuable public input on the specifics of this FY 2025 STIP amendment, the Georgia DOT is also taking this opportunity to inform citizens about a number of transportation projects that have been awarded through various competitive federal and state discretionary grant programs. These include grants from the Department of Natural Resources and the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division, which will be formally incorporated into an appendix of the current STIP document as part of this amendment process. The public is encouraged to review the details of these newly awarded projects and provide any comments or feedback, which will then be shared directly with the sponsoring agencies.

Overall, this STIP amendment represents an important step in Georgia’s ongoing efforts to maintain transparency and public engagement in the critical work of planning, funding, and delivering the state’s most vital transportation improvements and enhancements.
