The Georgia Department of Transportation is studying the possibility of a roundabout at one of the most deadly intersections in Chattooga County.  The DOT authorized $1.2 million in 2023 for engineering for the project at the intersection of Gore-Subligna Road and U.S. Highway 27. In August of last year, a Subligna-area woman lost her life near intersection when she pulled out of a gas station parking lot into the path of an oncoming transfer truck.  In October of 2023, another serious accident happened at the intersection when a Mercedes-Benz passenger van with nine occupants was traveling north on Highway 27 and a Cadillac SUV pulled out of Gore-Subligna Road and into the path of the van.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, there are no dates set at this time for the beginning or completion of the project.
