The Georgia College of Emergency Physicians is a statewide advocacy group for the medical professionals that work in emergency rooms across the state.  The group met this week and awarded State Senator Chuck Hufstetler their “Legislator of the Year” award.

Hufstetler, who represents a portion of Chattooga and Floyd Counties in the State Senate, is an anesthetist at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.  He also serves as the Finance Chairman of the Georgia State Senate and as an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Medicine.

Hufstetler’s legislation on “surprise billing” earned him this year’s award from the Georgia College of Emergency Physicians.

Hufstetler was unable to attend the meeting in person, but did participate via Zoom.  Hufstetler stated, ” It was an honor to be awarded their Legislator of the Year award for my successful work on Surprise Billing. A national representative who attended the event said the Georgia Surprise Billing bill taking effect on January 1st will be by far the best in the nation.”
