Georgia motorists are wrapping up the year with another bit of relief at the pump, as the statewide average has dipped to about $2.68 per gallon as of Monday (Dec. 29), even though small day-to-day swings are still possible.

By the numbers, that’s:

  • 6 cents cheaper than last week

  • 15 cents cheaper than last month

  • 21 cents cheaper than this time last year

For a typical 15-gallon fill-up, that works out to roughly $40.20—welcome savings for commuters and anyone traveling for late-season holiday plans.

National trend backs it up
The price drop isn’t just a Georgia story. AAA’s national average for regular gas was $2.825 on 12/29/25, continuing a downward December trend. AAA Fuel Prices Reports have also noted this is shaping up as the cheapest December for gas since 2020, helped by relatively low crude oil prices and steady supply even with heavy holiday travel.
