The Georgia General Assembly opened for business for the 2012 Legislative Session at 10 AM this morning. The Georgia General Assembly will be taking up a wide variety of issues this session – the big one on most legislator’s minds is the budget.
Political watchers in Georgia don’t look for much to be said about the controversial immigration law that was signed into law last year. State Representative Barbara Massey Reece, a Democrat from Menlo, told AM 1180 that the budget will take up a considerable amount of time in this year’s session. Reece represents part of Floyd and all of Chattooga County and serves on the following committees: Education; Reapportionment; Science & Technology; State Institutions & Property.
State Senator Jeff Mullis, a Republican from Chickamauga, is the chair of the state senate transportation committee. Mullis serves on the Appropriations, Assignments, Banking and Financial Institutions, Economic Development, Public Safety, Rules and State and Local Governmental Operations committees. Mullis represents Chattooga, Walker, Dade and a portion of Catoosa Counties in the state senate.
