Republican leaders in the Georgia House of Representatives held a press conference in Atlanta on Wednesday touting tax cuts that will benefit parents and homeowners. The tax cuts come in four separate bills. One would increase Georgia’s child-tax credit from $3,000 to $4,000. Another would double the state’s homestead exemption from $2,000 to $4,000. Republicans are also vowing to support Governor Kemp’s proposal to fast-forward the state income tax cut that went in place this year. That would roll the income tax rate back from 5.49% to 5.39%. Then new tax cut bills would be in addition to the $5 billion in tax relief that the governor and the legislature have already agreed to.
