A "saturation" initiative between Cherokee County, Alabama law enforcement and Alabama State Troopers resulted in the arrest of a northwest Georgia man for drug trafficking.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver said officers set up multiple checkpoints in the Spring Garden, Rock Run and Ellisville areas Friday which resulted in numerous traffic citations and seven arrests; at County Roads 14 and 33, officers arrested Torrey Lashawn Hutchins of Rockmart, following an attempt to elude.
Officers recovered what the sheriff referred to as "a significant amount of illegal drugs,"
38 year old Hutchins has been charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, first degree possession of marijuana tampering with physical evidence and several traffic violations.
He's currently being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing
