A Rome man died as a result of injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle wreck in Cherokee County, Ala., Saturday night, according to Alabama State Patrol reports.

According to the report:

Justin C. Ballard, 22, was fatally injured in the wreck, which occurred approximately 1.5 miles from the Georgia state line on County Road 123 around 10:55 p.m. Saturday night.

The victim was a passenger in a 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by Curtis Edwards, 22, of Silver Creek, who was injured and taken to Cherokee Medical Center for treatment.

Two other passengers — Brandon Ballard, 19, of Rome and Crystal Berry, 20, of Silver Creek — were also injured and treated at Cherokee Medical Center.

Troopers were still investigating the wreck Sunday morning.
