At one point, over 80% of Chattooga County was without power starting Easter Sunday night and going through Monday. North Georgia EMC reported over 13,000 power outages in their entire service area. Georgia Power had over 45,000 power outages across North Georgia. The widespread power outages lasted into Tuesday for many Chattooga County residents. By Tuesday night, there were still several hundred people without power across the county.
Georgia Power brought in extra manpower to help out with the storm devastation. There were over 120 line crew personnel and eight damage assessment teams on the ground in Chattooga County. In addition, Georgia Power had two forestry specialists and fourteen tree crews in the county. Also, Georgia power brought in fifty bucket trucks, six hydrovac – pole-digging trucks, eight bulldozer, track hoe and skid steer crews.
The power company set up a staging area at Chattooga High School as a command center during the aftermath of the storm.
