The Georgia Recovers Bus will make stops in Summerville and several other Northwest Georgia communities this week.

“The opposite of addiction is connection,” said bus tour manager Jon Langston in a release. “This historic bus tour will break down the stigma surrounding addiction and show that Georgia supports the people impacted by the Addiction Epidemic.”

The free public events are funded through the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, in partnership with the Georgia Council for Recovery. Plans are for a celebration with free food, entertainment, and fellowship highlighting local people in recovery, families impacted by addiction, and allies who support recovery.

The bus will be in Rome, Ringgold and Calhoun this week, but the stop in Summerville is a “proclamation stop,” where local leaders present a National Recovery Month proclamation in support of people living in recovery and families impacted by addiction. It’s set for Friday from 11 AM until Noon at Dowdy Park.
