The State of Georgia reported net tax collections for June amounting to about $3.15 billion, which is an increase of $124.3 million, or 4.1%, compared to last year. The year-to-date net tax revenue reached roughly $33.62 billion, up $668.3 million, significantly influenced by the motor fuel excise tax, which had been suspended for a time last year. Adjusted for changes in the motor fuel tax, the year-to-date collections increased by $197.4 million, or 0.6%.
Individual Income Tax collections were approximately $1.49 billion, increasing by $166.1 million, or 12.5%, from last year. Key components contributing to this increase include a reduction in refunds issued, higher individualized withholding payments, and a significant rise in Individual Income Tax Return payments.
Sales and Use Tax collections totaled $1.59 billion in June, reflecting an increase of $38.2 million, or 2.5%. Net Sales and Use Tax also rose by $21.2 million, or 2.8%, compared to the previous year, while the adjusted distribution to local governments saw a minor increase.
Corporate Income Tax collections amounted to $484.7 million, showing a decrease of $52.7 million, or 9.8%. This drop was influenced by increased refunds and decreased estimated payments and other tax categories. Motor Fuel Taxes saw a slight decline, while Motor Vehicle Tag & Title Fees dropped by $2 million, although Title Ad Valorem Tax collections increased by $1.6 million.
