The federal stimulus package that will be signed into law today may have implications for Chattooga County’s school systems. Both the Trion City Schools and the Chattooga County School system are reeling from the budget shortfall from the state.
President Obama’s stimulus package could provide money to the states faltering educational funds. Local school boards are hoping their will be money in the stimulus package for things like special education. Some state lawmakers would rather see the economic stimulus money go back to taxpayers. State Senator Chip Roger, a Republican leader in the state senate, said that he hopes state lawmakers can give money back to individual tax payers with some of the stimulus money Georgia receives.
