Georgia wildlife officials have announced the highly anticipated dates and regulations for the state’s 2025 duck hunting season, offering hunters two distinct segments and a special early opportunity for eligible participants. The regular season will feature a daily bag limit of six ducks.
The 2025 regular duck season will be split into two segments to maximize hunting opportunities across different periods:
Segment 1: November 22–30, 2025
Segment 2: December 6, 2025 – January 25, 2026
Throughout both segments, the daily bag limit for ducks will be six per person. Hunters are reminded that species-specific limits apply within this overall bag limit, and it is crucial to consult the official Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) regulations for precise details on individual species.
A notable addition to the 2025 calendar is a special early hunting opportunity dedicated to certain groups. This event is scheduled for:
Dates: November 15–16, 2025
Eligibility: This special season is open to youth hunters (15 years of age and younger), active-duty military personnel, and veterans.
Scope: Participants in this early season will have the chance to harvest specific migratory birds, including ducks, ahead of the general opening.
To ensure a safe and legal hunting experience, all hunters must adhere to specific requirements:
Federal Duck Stamp: Hunters aged 16 and older are required to possess a federal electronic duck stamp or a physical stamp.
Non-Toxic Shot: The use of non-toxic shot is mandatory for all migratory bird hunting in Georgia.
Official Regulations: The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) emphasizes that all hunters should consult the latest official regulations. These documents provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding bag limits, species-specific rules, licensing requirements, and other pertinent hunting laws.
Hunters are encouraged to prepare early by securing necessary licenses and stamps and by thoroughly reviewing the 2025-2026 Georgia Waterfowl and Migratory Bird Regulations once they are officially published by the DNR. This comprehensive planning will help ensure a successful and compliant duck season.
