The Georgia Secretary of State’s office announced this week it will offer one year of free credit monitoring and identity restoration services to all Georgia voters. The move comes following last October’s announcement that a breach of information occurred and as a result Social Security numbers of over 6 million registered voters was released.

Voters’ personal information was accidentally included on statewide lists sent to 12 groups, including political parties and news media. The lists were either recovered or confirmed destroyed, according to Secretary of State Brian Kemp.

Eligible voters may enroll in the services at the secretary of state’s website. Enrollment in CSID Protector Coverage will be open through Feb. 14. The coverage lasts through Dec. 31. The coverage includes credit monitoring, CyberAgent internet surveillance, change of address monitoring, and Social Security number trace.

Additionally, identity restoration services will be provided to eligible voters if their identity is stolen at any point through Dec. 31. No enrollment is required for that service.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp said, “Georgians have my word this will not happen again.”
