The Georgia Young Farmers Association has several announcements for the upcoming weeks.

If you are planning to attend the pesticide course with Gordon County Young Farmers Tuesday, January 19th please contact Lauren Jarrett ASAP to register. There are limited spots.
Smoker tickets are still available. The local chapter has 18 tickets left to sale for $20 each. Please help them out and consider purchasing a smoker ticket.
The GYFA convention has went totally virtual. Originally it was scaled down to a one-day drive in event for advisors, voting delegates and award winners scheduled for Saturday, January 30 in Perry. Monday, the GYFA announced the event would be held on Friday, January 29th in a virtual format. With going to a virtual convention, convention activities/contests have changed. Meeting information will come later.
If you are interested in taking the farm business management test, it will be virtual this year through a program that ag education is using for virtual FFA contests. Farm Business management tests include a cash prize and usually draws a large crowd at convention. Participants will take it Thursday, January 14th 9 am – Friday, January 15th 5 pm.
Additionally, the photo contest is digital and the photos should be submitted to Lauren Jarrett by January 22nd.
The categories are listed below.

1.                  Scenic.  A black and white or color photo depicting some aspect of

Georgia agriculture.  (Example: field corn, soybean harvest, irrigation,

livestock, etc.)

2.                  Human Interest.  A black and white or color photo of you, your family or

friends involved in rural situations. (Example: kids and livestock together,

picnics or other farm activities)

3.                  Sunbelt Expo.  A black and white or color photo taken at the Sunbelt Expo.

4.         GYFA Activities.  Any GYFA activities on the state level.

 

 Each young farmer member or advisor may submit one photo in Scenic, one in Human Interest, one in Sunbelt Expo categories, and one in GYFA Activities.  No caption or explanation, please.
