Truett McConnell University dedicated the Dr. Charles F. Stanley Global Impact Center in honor of the late Charles Stanley. Stanley, known for his impactful preaching and prayer life, served as pastor of Atlanta’s First Baptist Church for over 50 years and founded In Touch Ministries. The center, housing the Stanley Chair of Theology, was designed to spread the message of Christ worldwide, as inspired by Psalm 67:2. In addition to broadcasting “In Touch” in 160 languages, the center showcases Stanley’s photography and ministry artifacts.

During the inauguration, speeches were delivered by University President Emir Caner, as well as Anthony George, who shared Stanley’s challenging childhood experiences and his unyielding faith in Jesus. Paige Patterson highlighted Stanley’s legacy of prayer, trust in God’s provision, and courage in the face of adversity. Patterson also praised Stanley’s photography as a reflection of his appreciation for God’s creation. Ultimately, Stanley’s desire to please God stood out as his greatest legacy during the Conservative Resurgence.

The importance of prayer in Stanley’s life was emphasized by all speakers, with President Caner underlining the University’s reliance on prayer since its founding in 1946. The Global Impact Center was seen as an answer to prayers, enabling the University to fulfill its mission of equipping students to be ambassadors for Christ in the world. Patterson and others recognized Stanley’s unwavering dedication to his faith, his reliance on prayer, and his enduring commitment to serving God above all else.
