Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters is expected to make a decision soon about the future of the Chattooga County Ambulance Service.  The commissioner is currently deciding on a proposal to privatize that service and enter a contract with either Redmond or Floyd Medical Center to provide Ambulance Service for Chattooga County.

At several of the meetings there has been the question concerning where EMT’s would come from if the county privatizes the ambulance service.  Both Redmond and Floyd say that they are committed to hiring local people to fill additional positions.

Commissioner Winters said that Georgia Northwestern Tehnical College has made a verbal committment to him to offer EMT training and certification classes at either Chattooga or Trion High School for local individuals.
