Despite some rain showers early on Saturday, there was a good turnout this year for Lyerly Down Home Day.  People from all over Chattooga County and the surround area enjoyed the day in downtown Lyerly.  Estimates are that there were around 600 people that attended the event.  There was a lot to see and do at the event; Aaron Adams won the BBQ Cook-off and Tonya Jones set a new record in the skillet toss with a throw of 72 feet 7 inches. Eugenia Patty won the $1,000 prize in cow patty bingo and Walt Beach won the new $600 stove. Gail Adams and Patrick Blalock won a new bicycle.
