The Goody’s Family Clothing store’s in Rome, Cartersville and Calhoun will be shutting down over the course of the next couple of months. A store employee in Rome confirmed that the 30 or so employees have been given notice of plans by the Knoxville based company to liquidate all of their assets after successfully emerging from bankruptcy in October.
Sales during the holiday season apparently were not sufficient to re-energize the company which was a family operation for most of it’s 55 years.
The company became a privately held company in 2006. Outside liquidators are expected to handle the reduction of the company’s merchandise over the next 60-150 days.
