Last week AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio reported the arrest of several underage persons for consumption of alcohol. According to reports from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department the arrest were the result of an investigation by Chattooga County Sheriffs Department deputies after they learned of a party that was going on at the Gore Community Center. According to Investigator Larry Kellett with the Sheriffs Department Charles Anthony Watkins, 38, of Armuchee, who rented the community center was conducting a party serving food and alcohol resulting in six persons arrested and charged with underage consumption of alcohol. Approximately 150 people were present, most of which were consuming alcohol, a quantity of illegal drugs including marijuana, ecstasy and suspected cocaine was found on the premises apparently thrown down on the floor upon law enforcement’s arrival. The sheriff’s department for the last couple of weekends has received complaints from concerned parents that alcohol was being consumed by teens during parties at the community center. The Sheriffs Department investigated one parent’s complaint two weeks ago and arrested several for underage drinking and even one person for public indecency.After further investigation the Sheriffs Department discovered that drug use was going on inside the Gore Community Center.
